دولة فهمانية

من الناحية السياسية، الفهمانية هي حركة في اتجاه الفصل بين الدين والحكومة (وغالبا ما كان يطلق عليه الفصل بين الكنيسة والدولة). ويمكن الرجوع إلى هذا الحد من العلاقات بين الحكومة ودين الدولة، لتحل محل القوانين استنادا إلى الكتاب (مثل الوصايا العشر والشريعة) مع القوانين المدنية، والقضاء على التمييز على أساس الدين. هذا وينطق حتى الفهمانية تضيف إلى الديمقراطية عن طريق حماية حقوق الأقليات الدينية..
معظم الأديان الرئيسية تقبل أسبقية قواعد الفهمانية، والمجتمع الديمقراطي ولكن من الممكن لا تزال تسعى إلى التأثير في القرارات السياسية أوتحقيق مزايا محددة أوالنفوذ من خلال اتفاقات بين الكنيسة والدولة. كثير من المسيحيين دعم وجود الدولة الفهمانية، ويمكن حتى نعترف بأن الفكرة قد دعمتها تعاليم الكتاب المقدس، "إعطاء ما لقيصر لقيصر وما هولله لله. " ومع ذلك، تعارض الأصولية الفهمانية. أبرز القوى الأصولية الدينية في العالم المعاصر هي الأصولية المسيحية والإسلام الأصولي. وفي الوقت نفسه، واحدة كبيرة للتيار الفهمانية قد حان من الأقليات الدينية الذين يرون الحكومية والسياسية الفهمانية جزءا لا يتجزأ من الحفاظ على المساواة في الحقوق.
بعض من الدول فهمانية دستوريا مثل كندا، الهند، فرنسا، الولايات المتحدة، هجريا وكوريا الجنوبيه، رغم حتى أيا من هذه الدول ليست متطابقة في أشكال الحكم.

دول فهمانية سابقة
- پاكستان بين (1947 - 1956) بعد تطبيق دستور 1956 صار الإسلام هودين الدولة.
- بنگلادش أعربت كدولة فهمانية مع نيلها الاستقلال في 1971، إلا حتى رئيسها السابق حسين إرشاد مرر تعديلا على الدستور في يونيو1988 جاعلا الإسلام ديناً للدولة مشيرا لعمله هذا لبتر الطريق على الأصوليين والجماعات المسلحة المتطرفة التي تسعى للسيطرة على الحكم.
- إيران أصبحت دولة فهمانية في 1925 بعد حتى صار رضا بهلوي شاها على البلاد. وفي ديسمبر 1979 صار الإسلام ديناً للدولة مع تبني دستور حديث للبلاد.
