ظاهرة 2012 2012 phenomenon، سلسلة من اعتقادات تفترض حدوث تغيرات أوكوارث في 21 ديسمبر 2012. يعتبر هذا التاريخ على أنه نهاية دائرة السنة الطويلة رقم 5,125 في تقويم العد الطويل لأمريكا الوسطى.
تقويم المايا
تعتبر حضارة المايا واحدة من أعظم الحضارات التي عاشت في المنطقة التي ضمت وسط المكسيك جنوباً باتجاه گواتيمالا، بيليز، إلسلڤادور، ھندوراس ونيكاراگوا حتى كوستاريكا. طوّر سكان المايا مجتمعا منظما، كانوا أول من طوّر لغة مكتوبة في العالم، وصلوا الى مستوى فهمي متقدم، وأنشأوا مبان ومعالم كبيرة ثقافية فاقت المستوى الذي كان سائدا في مناطق مختلفة من العالم في ذالك الوقت. قام شعب المايا بوضع تقويمين؛ واحد للإستخدام المدني والآخر للإستخدام الديني. وقاموا بحساب مواقع الأجرام السماوية على امتداد مئات السنين لاعتقادھم بأن الأحداث الماضية يجب حتى تتكرر في المستقبل.
فبينما تعاملت جميع الحضارات مع الزمن باعتباره تطورا خطيا مستمرا فإن تقويم المايا المعقد إعتمد على فكرة حتى الزمن تعبير عن دوائر؛ وهومايعنى باختصار حتى الزمن يعيد نفسه، لذا فمن أحداث الماضى التى سقطت بالعمل، يمكن التنبؤ باحداث المستقبل؛ ومع الفهم الكامل لهذه الحقائق الغريبة والمتطورة في زمانها ودعمها بالكثير من العلوم الاخرى إعتقدت حضارة المايا حتى بمقدورها التنبؤ بالأحدات التي ستأتي مستقبلاً.
وكان المايا يؤمنون بأن البشر يخلقون ويفنون في دورات تزيد قليلا عن خمسة آلاف عام. وبما حتى آخر سلالة بشرية ـ من وجهة نظرهم ـ ظهرت قبل 3114 من الميلاد فإن نهايتهم ستكون عام 2012 (وبالتدقيق في 21ديسمبر من ذلك العام).

من علامات الساعة الكبرى حتى الشمس ستشرق من مغربها. وهذه يمكن حتى تحدث نتيجة لمجرد مرور جرم سماوي بجوار الأرض. وقد أكد الفهماء أنه تم رصد كوكب حديث أطلق عليه فهماء الناسا كوكب إكس أوكوكب نيبير وحسب السومريين (نيبيروالذي يتراوح حجمه بين أربعة أضعاف حجم الأرض وبين مرتين ونصف حجم المشتري ويقترب بسرعة فائقة من الأرض قادما من خلف الشمس سالكا مداره الذي يبلغ 3600 سنة) والذي سيكون سبباً في الكثير من التغيرات التي ستحدت على كوكب الأرض. حيث أنه وعند اقترابه من الأرض ستبدأ عملية الشد والجذب بين الكوكبين وبالطبع بما حتى كثافته تعادل 20 ضعف كثافة الأرض ويفوقها حجما، فإن محتوى باطنها سيخرج للسطح ويبقى منجذبا لمركزها. مما سيتسبب في حدوث تقلبات في القشرة الأرضية. وتختفي بعدها بعض القارات نتيجة حوادث خسف رهيبة.. ولا يتوقف الأمر عند هذا الحد بل ستتفجر البراكين في جميع مكان مكونة سحبا كثيفة من الرماد البركاني ستتسبب في تدني مستوى الرؤية كثيرا. وقد يستمر هذا الوضع من ستة أشهر إلى بضع سنوات.
وحسب آخر الأخبار فإن باطن الأرض بدأت حرارته تتصاعد لأسباب عديدة يأتي في مقدمتها اقتراب الكوكب العاشر.. وهذا سيؤدي إلى ذوبان الجليد على القطبين ليرتفع مستوى سطح البحر 213 مترا خلال السنتين القادمتين.. ليغرق شمال أوروبا ومعظم مساحة الاتحاد السوفييتي السابق وأجزاء من أميركا الجنوبية والشمالية وغيرها. وكما ورد في بعض المصادر فإن منطقة الشرق الأوسط تعد الأكثر أمنا من الغرق عدا شرق الجزيرة العربية وشمال مصر وليبيا.

- The number 13 plays an important role in Mesoamerican calendrics; the tzolk'in, or sacred calendar, was divided into 13 months of 20 days each. The Mayan may cycle consisted of 13 k'atuns. The reason for the number's importance is uncertain, though correlations to the phases of the moon and to the human gestation period have been suggested.
- The Mayan calendar, unlike the Western calendar, used a zero.
- Most Mayanist scholars, such as Mark Van Stone and Anthony Aveni, adhere to the "GMT (Goodman-Martinez-Thompson) correlation" with the Long Count, which places the start date at 11 August 3114 BC and the end date of b'ak'tun 13 at December 21, 2012. This date is also the overwhelming preference of those who believe in 2012 eschatology, arguably, Van Stone suggests, because it falls on a solstice, and is thus astrologically significant. Some Mayanist scholars, such as Michael D Coe, Linda Schele and Marc Zender, adhere to the "Lounsbury/GMT+2" correlation, which sets the start date at 13 August and the end date at December 23. Which of these is the precise correlation has yet to be conclusively settled.
- Coe's initial date was "December 24, 2011." He revised it to "11 January AD 2013" in the 1980 2nd edition of his book, not settling on December 23, 2012 until the 1984 3rd edition. The correlation of 13.0.0.0.0 as 21 December 2012 first appeared in Table B.2 of Robert J. Sharer's 1983 revision of the 4th edition of Sylvanus Morley's book The Ancient Maya.
