جامعة الشرق الأوسط التقنية (Middle East Technical University، اختصاراًMETU؛ بالهجرية Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi ODTÜ)، هي جامعة تقنية حكومية تقع في أنقرة، هجريا. هجرز الجامعة بشكل خاص على بحوث وتعليم الهندسة والعلوم الطبيعية، وتوفر ما يقارب من 40 برنامج بكالوريوس في خمس كليات، 97 برنامج ماجستير و62 برنامج دكتوراة في خمس كليات دراسات عليا. الحرم الرئيسي لجامعة الشرق الأوسط التقنية والذي تبلغ مساحته 4.500 هكتار، بالإضافة إلى المرافق الأكاديمية والمساعدة، يضم غابة بمساحة 3.000 هكتار، وبحير أيمير الطبيعية. يصل عدد خريجي الجامعة إلى أكثر من 95.000 خريج بالعالم. اللغة الرسمية للدراسة بالجامعة هي الإنگليزية.
التاريخ
تأسست جامعة الشرق الأوسط التقنية باسم "Orta Doğu Teknoloji Enstitüsü" (معهد الشرق الأوسط التقني) في 15 نوفمبر 1956، للمساهدة في تطوير هجريا وبلدان الجوار في الشرق الأوسط، البلقان، القوقاز، بخلق قوى عاملة ماهرة في العلوم الطبيعية والاجتماعية. "الترتيبات والإجراءات الخاصة بتأسيس جامعة الشرق الأوسط التقنية، القانون رقم 6213، تم إصداره في 22 يناير 1957، والذي بمتقضاه تم تبني الاسم الحالي "Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi" (ODTÜ). وأخيراً، "القانون التأسيسي رقم 7907"، والذي تحدد بموجبه مسقط جامعة الشرق الأوسط للتقنية وتأسيسها ككيان اعتباري، والذي صدر في 28 مايو1959.
في السنوات التالية للتأسيس، أستضيفت جامعة الشرق الأوسط للتقنية مؤقتاً في المقر السابق لمخط متقاعدي الضمان الاجتماعي في كيزيالي ومبنى آخر بالقرب من المجلس الوطني الأكبر لهجريا. عام 1963، انتقلت الجامعة إلى مسقطها الحالي في غرب وسط مدينة أنقرة، مؤسسة أول حرم جامعي في هجريا. عام 1956، أطلق قسم العمارة أول برنامج أكاديمي في جامعة الشرق الأوسط للتقنية، تلاها قسم الهندسة الميكانيكية في ربيع 1957. عند بداية السنة الأكاديمية 1957-1958، تأسست كلية العمارة، كلية الهندسة، وكلية العلوم الادارية. عام 1959، تأسست كلية الفنون والعلوم. أطلقت كلية التربية برنامجها الأكاديمي عام 1982.

الحياة الأكاديمية
في 2010، كانت الجامعة تضم 23.000 طالف، 15.800 منهم في الفترة الجامعية، 4.500 في برامج الماجستير، و2.700 في برامج الدكتوراة. يوجد 1.500 طالب آخر في الحرم الجامعي الجديد بشمال قبرص. يرتاد أكثر من 40% طلبة الجامعة كليات الدرسات العليا. في جميع سنة أكاديمية، تستضيف جامعة الشرق الأوسط التقنية أكثر من 1.500 طالب دولي منتظم من حوالي 80 بلد؛ وعن طريق 168 اتفاقية برنامج إيراسموس و182 اتفاقية تبادل وتعاون ثنائي مع الجامعات الأجنبية (مثل آسيا الوسى، الشرق الأوسط، أمريكا الشمالية، أستراليا، منطقة الشرق الأقصى والهادي)، حيث ترسل 350 طالب وتستقبل 300 طالب و50 باحث سنوياً. في 2010، كان عدد طاقم تدريس الجامعة 2.500 إنسان (أساتذة وباحثون)، 500 مدرب أكاديمي، وأكثر من 2.000 باحث مساعد.[] يزيد عدد الخريجين عن 500.000 إنسان (350.000 تقريبا أنهوا برامج الدراسات الجامعية).[]

مخطة الجامعة
المخطة الرئيسية لجامعة الشرق الأوسط للتقنية تمتلك واحدة من أكبر المجموعات في هجريا، والتي تضم ما يقارب 489.000 كتاب مصنفة حسب تصنيف مخطة الكونگرس. تشهجر المخطة في 1.500 صحيفة مطبوعة (170.270 جزء) وتتيح الدخول إلى 50.537 صحيفة إلكترونيةة، 200.120 كتاب إلكتروني، و66 مصدر مرجعي إلكتروني. تضم مجمعات المخطة أيضاً أكثر من 1.780 كتاب وسي دي مسلسل، 1300 رسالة دكتوراة و11.600 أطروحة ماجستير. جميع مجموعات المخطة بالإنگليزية، لكن يوجد أيضاً عناصر بالهجرية، بالألمانية، وبالفرنسية.
الحرم الجامعي
الحرم الرئيسي
الحرم الرئيسي لجامعة الشرق الأوسط للتقنية في أنقرة، تستخدمه الجامعة عام 1963، وهوأول حرم جامعي في هجريا. يقع على بعد 20 كم تقريباً غرب وسط أنقرة ويتكون من مساحة 11.100 هكتار، منها 7.500 هكتار لغابة جامعة الشرق الأوسط للتقنية. تم تحويل أراضي الحرم الجامعي إلى غابة بمساعدة مستمرة من الطلبة والمتطوعين منذ تأسيس الجامعة. انشاء هذا الحرم الجامعي المميز تم تحت قيادة عميد جامعة الشرق الأوسط للتقنية من 1961 حتى 1969، كمال كرداس.
حرم إردملي
حرم إردملي الجامعي في مرسين على ساحل المتوسط، يستخدمه من قبل معهد العلوم البحرية (Deniz Bilimleri Enstitüsü) منذ عام 1975، أول حرم لجامعة الشرق الأوسط خارج أنقرة. يقع على بعد 45 كم تقريباً من مرسين. تبلغ مساحة الحرم الجامعي 660.000 م²، في جوار الشاطئ ومحاط بأشجار الليمون. تبلغ مساحة المعمل 700 م². ميناء معهد جامعة الشرق الأوسط للتقنية-معهد العلوم البحرية يعتبر مأوى هام للتنوع البيولوجي البحري على ساحل مرسين. الميناء هوالموئل الصخري البكر الوحيد على إمتداد الساحل الرملي.
حرم شمال قبرص
حرم شمال قبرص الجديد، 50 كم غرب نيقوسيا على جزيرة قبرص، استقبل أول طلابه أثناء السنة الأكاديمية 2002-2003، لكن أبوابه فتحت رسمياً في قبرص في سبتمبر 2005.
تكنوپوليس
تكنوپوليس-إم إي تي يو، ميتوتكس، هوأول منتزه فهمي وبحثي في هجريا. تأسس داخل الحرم الجامعي، بهدف تيسير تطوير الشركات التي تعقد أبحاث وتنمية أساسية لإنتاج المنتجات والخدمات عالية التقنية من خلال الاستفادة من الكفاءة البحثية والقدرة المعلوماتية لجامعة الشرق الأوسط التقنية. وتعطى الاولوية للشركات التي تقوم بأعمال البحث والتنمية في تكنولوجيا المعلومات، الخامات المتقدمة، الطاقة، السيارات، الكيمياء، فهم الأحياء، وتقنيات البيئة.
ثقافة والحياة الطلابية
تتميز الحياة الطلابية بجامعة الشرق الأوسط للتقنية بأنشطة الاتحادات الطلابية، الاحتجاجات السياسية المتكررة، المهرجانات. يستضيف المركز الثقافي ومركز المؤتمرات باستمرار طيف واسع من الأحداث السياسية كما توجد فعاليات منتظمة مثل أيام الجاز الجامعية ومهرجان الفن الجامعي. الحدث الذي يجذب أكبر عدد من المشاركين هومهرجان الربيع السنوي لجامعة الشرق الأوسط للتقنية، وهوتعبير عن احتفال لمدة خمسة أيام تقام فيه حفلات موسيقية ومعارض في الهواء الطلق داخل الحرم الجامعي الرئيسي.
