روال إنگلبرگت گراڤننگ أمونسن (بالنرويجية: Roald Engelbregt Gravning Amundsen؛ النطق النرويجي: [ˈɾuːɑl ˈɑmʉnsən]; 16 يوليو1872 – ح. 18 يونيو1928) كان مستكشف نرويجي استكشف المنطقتين القطبيتين. قاد أول تجريدة قطبية جنوبية ليصل القطب الجنوبي بين 1910 و1912. وكان أول إنسان يصل كلاً من القطبين الشمالي والجنوبي. وعُرِف بأنه أول إنسان يعبر المعبر الشمالي الغربي. وقد اختفى في يونيو1928 أثناء مشاركته في بعثة انقاذ. أمونسن، مع دوگلاس موسون، روبرت فالكون سكوت، وإرنست شاكلتون، كان زعيماً رئيسياً أثناء العصر البطولي لاستكشاف المنطقة القطبية الجنوبية.

الممر الشمالي الغربي (1903–1906)
في 16 يونيو1903 - روال أمونسن يبدأ بعثته الأولى إلى المنطقة القطبية الشمالية من اوسلو، وكانت أول ملاحة شرق-غرب في الممر الشمالي الغربي. اقتنى سفينة "أيوا" المستهلكة وأجرى عليها تصليحات وجربها في عدة رحلات بحرية ثم توجه بها مع ستة بحارة من النرويج الى الدائرة القطبية الشمالية. داهم الشتاء البعثة وهي في الطريق. فاضطرت ان تنتظر عامين حتى يتخلص الخليج الذي توقفت فيه السفينة من الجليد. إلا أنها سرعان ما التقت بعد ذلك بسفينة أمريكية، فكان ذلك مؤشرا على حتى بعثة أموندسن هي اول من عبر المحيط المتجمد الشمالي.
تجريدة القطب الجنوبي (1910-12)
الاختفاء والوفاة
