فئة الدم (أومجموعة الدم أوفصيلة الدم) يتم تحديدها، جزئياً، حسب ABO blood group antigens present on red blood cells.
فئات الدم Blood Group للبشر مختلفة فلكل إنسان محدد من الدم ينتمي إلى مجموعة واحدة من أربعة مجموعات رئيسيةوهي:
- أ A
- ب B
- أب AB
- وO
تختلف جميع مجموعة منها عن المجموعة الأخرى لوجود مواد معينة في كريات الدم والمصل, فإذا أختلطت مجموعتان غير متوافقتين تماما يحدث تلازن قد تكون له نتائج خطيرة.
لتجنب ذلك يجب عند نقل الدم مراعاة حتىقد يكون دم المعطي (المتبرع) متوافق تماما مع دم الأخذ (المستلم).
يمكن حتىقد يكون دم المعطي من المجموعة (وO) حيث أنها لا تحتوي على أجسام مضادة, ويعهد بالمعطي العام.
يجب حتى يؤخذ بنظر الأعتبار عامل RH, وهناك نوعين سلبي RH -ve وإيجابي RH +ve.
إن اختلاف فئات الدم بين الأزواج قد يُؤدي أحياناً إلى هلاك الجنين وذلك عندماقد يكون الزوج (ريزوس إيجابي) والزوجة (ريزوس سلبي).في الحمل الأول إذا كان الجنين (ريزوس إيجابي) يقوم جسم الأم بتكوين أجسام مضادة لعامل RH بسبب اختلاط دم الجنين مع دم الأم في المشيمة. مع تكرار الحمل بجنين RH +ve تزداد نسبة الأجسام المضادة في دم الأم مما يؤدي إلى انتنطق هذه الأجسام المضادة عبر المشيمة إلى الجنين وبالتالي تلازنها مع دمه وهلاكه في الأسابيع الأولى من الحمل. يتم التخلص من هذه المشكلة بإعطاء الأم حقنة تحوي على أجسام مضادة للأجسام المضادة لعامل الريزوس
فئة الدم O Rh السلبي (Type O ، Rh -ve ) من فئات الدم المألوفة بين الغربيين, بينما في الصين يحتل عدد حامليها واحدا من 300-400 فرد.
