سلطة قضائية
السلطة القضائية Judiciary هي فرع الحكومة المسؤول عن التفسير الرسمي للقوانين التي يسنها المجلس التشريعي وينفذها الفرع التطبيقي أويتم تبنيه بموجب اتفاقية دولية كما هوالحال في الدول الأعضاء في المجموعة الأوربية). في الحالات التي تنشأ فيها نزاعات متعلقة بمعنى هذه القوانين أومشروعيتها أوانتهاكها المفترض. والسلطة القضائية مسؤولة أيضا عن اتخاذ القرارات بنتائج مثل هذه النزاعات مثل فرض العقوبات.
وفي معظم الدول المتقدمة سياسيا تتكون السلطة القضائية من قضاة مدربين مهنيا, أوفي بعض الحالات منتخبين ولوبعض النظم تؤمن أيضا وجود أشخاص عاديين في هيئة المحكمة يتولون التقويم.
