مشروع مانهاتن بالإنگليزية: Manhattan Project مشروع سري في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية لصنع القنبلة النووية.

المشروع

اكتشف العالم الألماني أوتوهان حتى انشطار ذرة اليورانيوم وهي من العناصر الغير مستقرة عام 1934 يحدث سريعا، ويولد إثر ذلك طاقة هائلة ممكن حتى تكون مدمرة إذا لم تكن محتواة. وقبيل الحرب العالمية الثانية وبمباركة من الرئيس الألماني آنذاك أدولف هتلر أخذ الألمان تطوير مشروع القنبلة الذرية بصورة سرية وفي تكتم شديد.

هدفهم كان خلق القنبلة النووية تساعدهم في ترجيح كفتهم في ميزان القوى في الحرب المقبلة لصالحهم وتساهم في استعدادهم لهذه الحرب. قامت ألمانيا بإيقاف تصدير اليورانيوم من مناجم تشيكوسلوفاكيا المحتلة. الأمر الذي أثار حفيظة رجال الاستخبارات الموالية للحلفاء.

قام ألبرت أينشتاين بالإنگليزية: Albert Einstein في2 أغسطس 1939، وقبل بدء الحرب العالمية الثانية، بتحذير رئيس الولايات المتحدة آنذاك فرانكلين روزفلت بالإنگليزية: Franklin D . Roosevelt واصفاً فيها الطاقة المدمرة التي تنتج عن الإنشطار الذري، عبر فيها عن قلقه الشديد وقلق الفهماء من زملائه من إمكانية نجاح ألمانيا النازيةبصنع القنبلة النووية.

أينشتاين عالم ألماني يهودي، هجر أوروبا قبل تولي هتلررئاسة ألمانيا. ولإدراكه مدى قوة التدمير الكامن في الانشطار النووي، عارض أينشتاين استغلال الطاقة النووية لتصنيع أسلحة تعتبر نوعا من أسلحة الدمار الكامل، وخشيته كانت امتلاك ألمانيا لهذه القنبلة قبل الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية لمعهدته لطبيعة هتلر العدوانية.

إثر هذا قررت القيادة العسكرية الأمريكية خلق هذه القنبلة أولا مهما كلف الأمر. اختاروا مبنى لإنتاج القنبلة النووية، بحيث يبعد (200) ميل على الأقل عن حدودها الدولية والتجمعات البشرية. لإدراكهم حتى أي خطأ قد يكلفهم الكثير من الأرواح.

تجارب ناجحة

اختاروا مدرسة للأولاد في أرض صحراوية في ولاية نيومكسيكوفي منطقة تعهد باسم Jornada del Muerto وتعني رحلة إلى الموت تحمل هذه الصفات. وقد عين روبرت أوبنهايمر على رأس فريق من الفهماء في مشروع أطلقوا عليه مشروع مانهاتن بالإنگليزية: Manhattan Project.

بعد عدة تجارب وخيبات أمل تمكنوا من خلق أولقنبلة نووية أسقطت على هيروشيما في اليابان في6 أغسطس 1945.
