فهم أحياء الانحفاظ Conservation biology أوفهم البيئة الانحفاظي conservation ecology هوالفهم الذي يقوم بتحليل وحماية التنوع الحيوي للأرض. يأخذ فهم احياء الانحفاظ من العلوم الفيزيائية والحيوية والاجتماعية حتى ، وأيضا الاقتصاد ، وممارسة إدارة الموارد الطبيعية. في حين يقوم فهم بيئة الانحفاظ بدراسة قضايا ديناميات التجمعات population dynamics المرتبطة بقياسات التجمعات الصغيرة للأنواع النادرة. ( انظر تجمع قابل للحياة أصغري minimum viable population ). ينطبق مصطلح "فهم احياء الانحفاظ" على فهم دراسة الانحفاظ على صعيد الجينات وتجمع حيوي population ، الانواع وأيضا النظمة البيئية .
