إنسيلادوس هوأحد الأقمار التى تدور حول كوكبزحل. أعربت وكالة الفضاء الأمريكية ناسا حتى المسبار الفضائي " كاسيني" عثر علي أدلة علي وجود محيط من المياه الدافئة تحت القشرة الجليدية المتجمدة للقمر " إنسيلادوس " الذي يدور حول كوكب زحل.
التضاريس
وهوقمر صغير لا يتجاوز قطره 498 كيلومترا ومعدل مسافته عن كوكبه الأم نحو238,000 كيلومتر. ولإنسيلادوس سطح فريد أشبه بسطح الموزائيكي فهوبشكل عام سطح ناعم عاكس لكل ضوء الشمس الساقط عليه تقريبا وإضافه الى هذة الصفة يمتلك عددا من الحفر بعضها قديم والآخر حديث وأخاديد طويلة وسهولا واسعة خالية من الحفر. ويتميز هذا القمر بالبرودة الشديدة وحين مرت عليه المركبة الفضائية فوياجير الثانية سجلت أجهزتها معدل حرارة تقارب من 200 درجة مئوية تحت الصفر أثناء النهار.

وكان القمر إنسيلادوس لا يحظى في السابق باهتمام الفهماء الذين اعتقدوا دائماً أنه بارد وميت إلي حتى وصل المسبار كاسيني إلي كوكب زحل . لكنه أصبح الآن محور دراسات تفصيلية مكثفة بعد حتى اكتشف أنه نشط جيولوجياً . وقد اكتشف المسبار كاسيني سحابة هائلة من بخار الماء فوق القطب الجنوبي للقمر إنسيلادوس ،كما اكتشف شقوقاً دافئة يتدفق منها الثلج المتبخر ليكون سحابة بخار الماء . وأكد المسبار كاسينا أيضاً حتى القمر إنسيلادوس هوالمصدر الرئيسي لأكبر حلقات كوكب زحل ، المعروفة باسم الحلقةE.
