شبكة وكالة مشاريع البحوث المتقدمة بالإنگليزية: Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (اختصاراً:ARPANET أرپانت) هومشروع اطلق عام 1969 من وزارة دفاع الولايات المتحدة. أنشئ هذا المشروع من أجل ربط الجامعات ومؤسسات الابحاث لاستغلال أمثل للقدرات الحسابية للكومبيوترات المتوفرة, وتعتبر أربانت النواة الحقيقة التي أدت إلى ظهور الإنترنت.

التاريخ

تأسيسها

بدأ الإنترنت في التشكل في أواخر الستينيات من القرن العشرين. وكانت وزارة الدفاع الأمريكية قلقة في ذلك الوقت بشأن إمكانية نشوب حرب نووية مدمرة؛ فبدأت في البحث عن وسائل لربط المنشآت الحاسوبية معًا، بكيفية تجعل قدرتها على الاتصال فيما بينها تصمد في لقاءة الحرب. وقد دشنت وزارة الدفاع، بوساطة وكالة مشروعات البحث المتقدم، التابعة لها، شبكة أرپانت، وهي شبكة من الحواسيب العسكرية والجامعية.

لقد وضعت قواعد تشغيل الشبكة، الأساس لتأمين اتصال سريع نسبيًا وخالٍ من الأخطاء بين حاسوب وآخر. وقد تبنت شبكات أخرى هذه القواعد، التي تطورت بدورها مع توفر تقنيات جديدة في مجال الحاسوب والاتصال.

نشر أرپانت

ظلت أرپانت تنمووتتطور طوال عقد السبعينيات، على نحوبطيء ولكنه مستمر. وبدأت حواسيب من بلدان أخرى تنضم للشبكة. كما دخلت شبكات أخرى في الخدمة أيضًا، مثل شبكة يو. يو. سي. بي. (UUCP) التي أنشئت لخدمة مستخدمي نظام التشغيل يونيكس، وشبكة المستخدم (يوزنت) وهي وسيلة لنشر الموضوعات النصية حول الكثير من الموضوعات.

وبحلول عام 1981، كان عدد الحواسيب المتصلة بشبكة أرپانت يزيد قليلاً على 200 حاسوب. ثم قامت وزارة الدفاع بتقسيم الشبكة إلى منظمتين هما شبكة أرپانت وشبكة أخرى عسكرية بحتة. وخلال الثمانينيات، جرى احتواء أرپانت من قبل نسفنت، وهي شبكة أكثر تقدمًا، تم تطويرها بوساطة مؤسسة العلوم القومية. وبعد مرور فترة وجيزة، أصبح تجمع الشبكات هذا يعهد ببساطة باسم الإنترنت.
