أوروبا Europa (moon) تابع طبيعى أحد اقمار كوكب المشتري اكتشفه العالم الإيطالى گاليليومن خلال تلسكوبه البسيط سنة 1610م ويعتبر واحد من أربعة اقمار كبيرة أكتشفها گاليليووالمعروفة باسم أقمار گاليليو.
المواصفات
وأوروبا أصغر الاقمار الأربعة فيبلغ قطره نحو3,138 كيلومترا ويقارب حجمه حجم القمر الارضي (البالغ قطره 3,476 كيلومترا) وكثافته نحوثلاثة جرامات للسنتيمتر المكعب الواحد .
مداره
يدور أوروبا في مدار دائرى تقريبا فوق خط استواء المشتري ومعدل بعده عن كوكبه الأم نحو670,900 كيلومتر. ومن خلال فوياجير الثانية التى مرت على بعد 204,000 كيلومتر يظهر فيها أوروبا قمرا ابيض ذا خطوط سوداء وجرما أملس غير وعر وقد وصف بملاسة كرة البليارد ويظن الفهماء حتى اوروبا ملفوف في طبقة عميقة من الجليد من الممكن يوجد تحتها محيط ضخم من الماء.
