طراد قتالي
الطراد القتالي battlecruiser، هوأحد أنواع السفن الرئيسية في النصف الأول من القرن 20. كانت تشبه في الحجم، التكلفة والتسليح البارجات، لكنها كانت تحمل كم أقل من التسليح من أجل الحصول سرعات أعلى. تم تصميم أولى الطرادات القتالية في [[المملكة المتحدةي] في العقد الأول من القرن، مع تطوير الطرادات المدرعة، وفي الوقت نفسه خلفت الدريدنوتات السفن القتالية السابقة لها. كان الهدف من التصميم هوالتفوق على أي سفينة ذات تسليح مشابه، ومطاردة أي سفينة ذات تسليح أقل؛ وكان يهدف إلى مطاردة الطرادات الأقل سرعة، وتدميرها مع إطلاق نار كثيف مع تجنب القتال مع البوارج الأكثر قوة والأقل سرعة. إلا حتى تم بناء المزيد من الطرادات القتالية، والتي تم استخدامها بشكل متزايد جنباً إلى جنب مع البوارج المحمية بشكل أفضل.
