منطقة حدثا، شمال شرق سيبيريا القطبية

حدثا (Kolyma ؛ بالروسية: Колыма́, IPA: [kəɫɨˈma]) هي منطقة تقع في الشرق الأقصى الروسي. ويحدها East Siberian Sea والمحيط القطبي في الشمال وبحر أوخوتسك إلى الجنوب. المنطقة تأخذ اسمها من نهر وجبال حدثا، أجزاء منها لم تُكتشف حتى 1926.^[] واليوم، المنطقة تتكون تقريباً من أوكروگ چوكوتكا الذاتي وأوبلاست مگدان.

المنطقة، جزء منها يقع داخل الدائرة القطبية، وله مناخ شبه قطبي حيث الشتاء شديد البرودة ويستمر حتى ستة أشهر من العام. الأرض دائمة التجلد وتندرا يغطيان جزءاً كبيرة من المنطقة. متوسطات درجات حرارة الشتاء تتراوح من −19 °س إلى −38 °س (وحتى أقل من ذلك في الداخل)، ومتوسطات درجات الحرارة في الصيف، من +3 °س إلى +16 °س. وتوجد احتياطيات غنية من المضى والفضة والصفيح وتنگستن والزئبق والنحاس والأنتيمون والفحم والنفط والخث. وقد تم التعهد على تسعٍ وعشرين منطقة محتملة بتجمعات من النفط والغاز في رصيف بحر أوخوتسك. إجمالي الاحتياطيات يُقدَّر بنحو3.5 بليون طن من الوقود المكافئ، منها 1.2 بليون طن من النفط و1.5 بليون م³ من الغاز.

البلدة الرئيسية مگدان يبلغ عدد سكانها نحو100,000 نسمة وهي أكبر ميناء في شمال شرق روسيا. ويوجد فيها أسطول كبير للصيد ويبقى مفتوحاً طوال العام، بكاسرات الجليد. مگدان يخدمها مطار سوكول القريب. كما توجد مزارع تعاونية وخاصة. مناجم المضى ومصانع المعكرونة والمقانق وشركات الصيد ومصنع جعة يشكلون القاعدة الصناعية للمدينة.

قبل التاريخ

During archaeological investigations of Paleolithic sites on the Angara, in 1936 the unique Stone Age site of Buret’ was discovered which yielded an anthropomorphic sculpture, skulls of rhinoceroses, and surface and semisubterranean dwellings. The houses were analogous, on one hand, to Paleolithic European houses and, on the other, to ethnographically studied houses of the Eskimos, Chukchi and Koryaks.

The indigenous peoples of this region include the Evens, Koryaks, Yupiks, Chukchis, Orochs, Chuvans and Itelmens, who traditionally lived from fishing along ساحل بحر أوخوتسك coast or from reindeer herding في وادي نهر حدثا.

During the Pleistocene this part of Beringia the ecology was quite different than now with the extinct Wooly mammoth and the wooly rhinoceros present.

The polar bear most likely evolved here.
