البندقية M16

قام المصمم الأمريكي يوجين ستونر في عام 1955 بتصميم سلاح أرم لايت (Armalite) وأخذ تصميمه من سلاحين: سلاح سويدي (AG42) وسلاح أمريكي (GRAND M1).

وقد كان هذا عيار السلاح (7.62 × 51) ملم, وبعد الحرب العالمية الثانية استخدم الجيش الأمريكي السلاح M14 بهذا العيار السابق, وفي العام 1956 تم تغيير العيار إلى (45 × 5,56) ملم, ويمكن الرمي بهذا السلاح بشكل آلي ونصف آلي, وسعة المخزن (20) طلقة أوأكثر وكان وزن السلاح مع المخزن لا يتجاوز (2,74) كجم وكانت طلقته تخرق الخوذة العسكرية على بعد (500) متر.

ثم قام المصمم يوجين ستونر ببعض التعديلات في AR10 فغير عيار الطلقة من (7.62 × 51) ملم إلى (45 × 5,56) وأطلق عليه اسم (AR15), ثم أوفد السلاح إلى فيتنام الجنوبية في عام 1961م بقصد تجربته وقامت القوات البرية الأمريكية بطلب الحصول على كمية (104000) بندقية من هذا النوع في عام 1963 ومسماه العسكري هو(M16A1) وغير الجيش الأمريكي سلاحه عام 1966م من (M14) إلى (XM16A1) بتغيير اسم السلاح فقط وأطلق عليه (M16A1).

وفي أوائل العام 1980 قام الجيش الأمريكي ببعض التعديلات على السلاح وأطلق عليه اسم (M16A2). وفي عام 1982 غير الجيش الأمريكي إلى (M16A2) ودخل أول تجربة في عام 1989م في حرب بنما.

ويمكن هجريب منظار على السلاح للتصويب بشكل أفضل, ويمكن أيضاً هجريب قاذف للقنابل على هذه البندقية من عيار (40) ملم ويسمى بـ(M203).

كما أنه توجد عدد من النماذج لهذا السلاح والتي تعمل بنفس الميكانيكة.

Production and users

Worldwide users of the M16 (former and current)

The M16 is the most commonly manufactured 5.56×45mm rifle in the world. Currently, the M16 is in use by 15 NATO countries and more than 80 countries worldwide. Together, numerous companies in the United States, Canada, and China have produced more than 8,000,000 rifles of all variants. Approximately 90% are still in operation. The M16 replaced both the M14 rifle and M2 carbine as standard infantry rifle of the United States armed forces. Although, the M14 continues to see limited service, mostly in sniper, designated marksman, and ceremonial roles.

Still KATUSA (Korean Augmentation to the United States Army) soldiers who serve in the United States Army uses M16A2.
