جـِري دنـَهيـو Jerry Donohue (عاش 21 يونيو, 1920 - 13 فبراير, 1985) ، هوكيميائي نظري وطبيعي أمريكي. أبرز ما اشتهر به أنه كان أحد مكتشفي بنية جزيء الدنا مع جيمس واطسون وفرانسيس كريك.

العمل المبكر

ولد دنهيوفي شبويگان، وسكنسن ودرس ونال أول درجتين فهميتين له من كلية دارتموث, حيث حصل على شهادة البكالوريوس عام 1941 ، ثم الماجستير في عام 1942. ثم تفهم للحصول على الدكتوراه تحت إشراف لينس پولنگ في معهد كاليفورنيا للتكنولوجيا, وظل في المعهد بعد حصوله على الدكتوراه عام 1947 حتى عام 1952.

دور في تحديد بنية الدنا

تخصص دنهيوفي التحليل والبناء البلوري, وبالتدقيق الجزيئات المتعلقة بالبيولوجيا والرابطة الهديروجينية. في عام 1952, حصل دنهيوعلى منحة مؤسسة گوگنهايم خطأ استشهاد: إغلاق </ref> مفقود لوسم <ref> وفي خلال أيام قليلة تمكن واطسون وكريك من إكتشاف بنية الدنا

في منطقهم بمجلة نتشر الذي خطه كلا من واطسون وفرانسيس كريك لشريح بنية الدنا, نطق واطسون ودنهيو: "نحن مدينون بالكثير لدكتور جري دنهيولتقديمه الكثير من النصيحة والنقد, خاصة بالنسبة interatomic distances" .

حياته فيما بعد

بعد كمبردج ، أصبح دنيهوأستاذ مساعد في الكمياء بجامعة جنوب كاليفورنيا حيث واصل تخصصه في الرابطة الهيدروجينية. ودرس أيضا المركبات التي تحتوي على كبريت وبدأ في نشر أوراق على نطاق أوسع حول فهم البلورات والبناء البلوري. في الفترة بين 1963-1966, كان دنهيورئيسا لقسم الكيمياء بجامعة جنوب كاليفورنيا.

عام 1966, إلتحق بكلية الكمياء جامعة پنسلفانيا كأستاذ رود ثمبسون للكمياء. في 1974, نشر كتابه بُنَى العناصر. ويقضي وقت فراغه في الإهتمام بالبستنة والأصداف البحرية. وتقاعد من منصبة بالجامعة عام 1985 بسبب ظروفه الصحية وتوفي في العام نفسه نتيجة إصابته بالسرطان.
