الطاجيك (أوطاجك) مجموعة عرقية تعد من المجموعات العرقية الرئيسية في وسط آسيا، وتتواجد بشكل رئيسي في دول: أفغانستان، طاجيكستان، باكستان، أوزبكستان، إيران والصين.
ينحدر الطاجيك من الشعب الأرياني، وهوشعب قديم يتحدث اللغة الهندو-أوروبية. والشعب الإيراني الذي استقر في وسط آسيا، كما استقر في الصين والهند إبان الفتح الإسلامي.
الطاجك هم شعب فهماء، فمنهم امام الحديث البخاري والامام مسلم والامام الترمذي والعالم الطبيب ابن سينا وغيرهم، وهذا ما تقره لهم الشعوب المجاورة (وباقي المسلمين). لذلك فهم أهل مدن وحضر. وهم غالبية سكان مدن آسيا الوسطى، مثل بخارى (أوزبكستان)، سمرقند، ترمذ (هجرمنستان) ومزار شريف (أفغانستان). بغض النظر عن التقسيمات السياسية في أي زمان.
والطاجيك هم الشعب الوحيد في جمهوريات الاتحاد السوفيتي الآسيوية السابقة الذي يتحدث الفارسية وليس إحدى اللغات الهجرية.
