' الحوت الأحدب (Megaptera novaeangliae) هونوع من الحوت البالين . واحدة من أكبر أنواع [rorqual]] . والحدباء تتميز بشكل الجسم المميز, مع زعانف صدرية طويلة . إنه حيوان البهلوانية، وغالبا ما يستطيع الحوت خرق صفع الماء. والذكور تستطيع الغناء الذي يستمر لمدةعشرة إلى 20 دقيقة ويتم تكرار لساعات في وقت واحد. والغرض من هذه الأغنية ليس من الواضح بعد، على الرغم من أنه يظهر حتىقد يكون لها دور في التزاوج.

There are many commercial whale-watching operations on both the humpback's summer and winter ranges:

As with other cetacean species, however, a mother whale is generally extremely protective of her infant, and places herself between any boat and her calf before moving quickly away from the vessel. Skilled tour operators avoid stressing the mother.
